Born in the picturesque lakes region in the North of Italy, Mike has always used design as a tool to question the world and challenge the norm. His Italian and Swiss-German heritage strongly influences his work as a designer and the combination allows him to balance rational problem solving with an innate understanding of the power of beauty.
After graduating from the Polytechnic University of Milan with a Bachelor’s degree in Product Design, Mike arrived in London. Starting in interiors for Harrods and The Conran Shop, he went on to complete his MA in Industrial Design at Central Saint Martins. Mike subsequently joined an established London based studio, manufacturing a wide variety of products for renowned global clients.
MIKE SIMONELLI emerged directly from Mike’s passion and natural aptitude for design. The combination of an extremely technical background attained in Milan and an intuitive creative approach gained in London has given him an uniquely personal perspective on problem solving. Bringing both an understanding of function and an appreciation for the importance of storytelling to his work, Mike’s approach to design is genuinely rare in an environment which is notably dominated by one or the other end of the spectrum.
